rear e36 speaker problem. HELP!!

i've noticed that my mb quart q series 5.25" components in the rear sound like krap. in fact they sound worse than the stock speakers that were replaced!!!! what gives!! is there a special way to mount these speakers so that they sound better? do i have to custom mount them? currently the're mounted in the stock rear deck speaker mounting. i don't understand this...my front mb quart comps fit perfectly and sound great. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Simple thing to check is to reverse the wires and make sure that the positive is connected to the positive wire. I have seen something as simple as this make a differenece is other situations.

it turned out to be 2 things. first, my amp was defective and were causing my speakers to distort at high frequencies. next, i removed the rear speaker baskets and took off the fabric padding. apparently they were muffling the rear speakers.
