Do BMW owners WASH CAR more than other car owners?

i experienced it myself. you treat your own car waaaay different than a company car/loaner whatever. the bimmer at home got washed almost every week, depending on time and weather.
the car i have over here.....wash? you mean, get to dirt off? oh c'mon it ain't that dirty....i just don't really care ...

Zymol seems like the biggest rip-off of products.

Gotta disagree. Look in the gallery at my 91 318is. My brother bought it new and it has always been pampered with Zymol products. After 13 years and 134k I still get people who are awe-struck by how nice the paint is. When clean the car looks new.

I am not saying that if you pamper your car with Turtle Wax it won't look just as good 13 years and 134k later, but I have not seen it yet?

Initially I questioned Zymol for quality vs. money. I like Zymol products and actually tested a few brands with a sample of Concours given to me by a friend before I decided to purchase the products. This actually happened unexpectedly after I took my shower apart to retile. I put the glass doors on the side of my house initially, and then decided to try an experiment. I used 4 different wax products on sections of the clear glass door, and placed the door at the back side of the house where it would get hit steadily by the sprinklers 20 minutes, twice daily with the hard Las Vegas water while I finished my three weekend tile project.

I found a noticeable difference between the Zymol Concours and the others. The other I used were Maguiar’s Paste, Rain Dance, and another that I cannot recall the name but it is in an orange bottle and claims to be “The once a year car wax.” Perhaps my comparison was like comparing a Hyundai with a BMW but these were all I had and I just wanted to see the Zymol results. I do like the Zymol products and they do seem to last a long time. I waxed my entire motorcycle with only a very small amount of Concours on the end of two fingers.

Not scientific for sure, but I do like the products.

Neat test. I once washed my boat in Boulder City Nevada, it water spotted before I could dry it. You guys do have hard water.

I looked at the 91 318is. Looks really really clean for such an old car. But I truly believe that if you wash and wax your car carefully with Eagle One products or any other company, you can have your looking just like that after so many years. $4.99 for 64 oz. of Eagle One Car Wash that won't strip wax...now that is a deal.

I just waxed my car today (Eagle One WET Polish & Wax), after I washed it. Being not even a month-old car, it didn't make the paint much shinier (although I did notice a marginal difference), but it filled in the hairline scratches and got rid of the swirl marks. And now if I place something on my car (such as a towel, or a bottle of glass cleaner, etc.), it just slides right off.

Yea, the water here can destroy paint in no time. I try to avoid parking anywhere where even a slight mist of water from a sprinkler may hit the car.

Whoever subscribes to or is interested in Maxim (the magazine)...in the most recent issue (September 2003, with ugly Mariah Carrey on the cover), on pages 58-59, there is a "How To" guide on washing your car. I read this guide and it is actually extremely helpful and accurate. Also, there are pictures of a really sexy model, sitting on a yellow 911 (she's washing it...yummi). If anyone wants, I could take a picture or two of this article and post it up so you can read the article and/or have fun looking at the pictures of this super hot model washing this super hot Porsche.

Bryan330i, the Eagle One wax products are okay. I used (and will continue to use) the WET Polish & Wax, because it combines wax and polish in one formula, and I personally trust Eagle One products the most. I was very pleased with the results...it really got rid of the swirl marks and hairline scratches.

Cool, I think that as long as you use a premium product and care for your car on a regular basis it should look good many miles and years down the road.

Agreed. And since Zymol has certainly proven itself for your car, then definitely stick with them...I'm just an Eagle One whore.

The Z3 gets washed as often as the wife has time to wash her. Sometimes that's once a week or 2 times a month. If she(the car) really needs it the wife will giver her an extra washing. Mind you she is garaged at night and under a covered parking garage at work during the day. That keeps her out of the hot Tampa sun and helps keep her clean!!

i am a true Eagle One whore everything i use is eagle one. i try to wash the e30 every other week and the e46 gets special treatment on the wheels every week for about 3 hours and the car gets a washing every week if possible.
